Garden Diaries with Diana Yates: Woodland Walkway, Orchard & Future Plans

In this bonus episode of our mini-series Garden Diaries with Diana Yates, Andy Peasgood chats with Diana about her woodland walkway and her beautiful orchard, which contains pear, cherry, and various types of apple trees, including a James Grieve and Bramley. Diana also discusses her future plans for the garden, including installing a new pond area.

Diana spent 10 years living and working in South Africa before returning to Scotland in 2017 with her family and purchasing Greenfields, an 18th-century listed former manse with two acres of land.

Since then she has been using our Kelpie Compost and Green Goodness to develop her garden.

Diana is an avid gardener, presenter of BBC Scotland’s flagship gardening programme Beechgrove, and writer.

Her first book, Growing at Greenfields, was released in May of this year. Diana shows that anyone can raise their own veg, create a plant theatre, cook seasonally, and decorate their home using home-grown dried or fresh flowers.

In the book, Diana also shares her favourite garden-to-table family recipes so you can show off your produce, from Garlic Scape Pesto to Comforting Cauliflower Soup. By growing, crafting and cooking, you can make a place that you can truly call home.
