Our media team was recently out at Hedderwick Hill Plantation within John Muir Country Park to document the 95 acres of windblown trees from Storm Arwen in December 2021.
We have been awarded a contract for clearing the estimated 80% of trees from the plantation that were blown down by the storm. It will take approximately three months to complete and will generate a huge tonnage of timber for biomass chip.
Once the trees have been removed, our partner organisation, the Caledonian Environmental Restoration Trust, has been tasked with replanting the entire wood with volunteers and local contractors.
Our media team will be following and documenting the trust during this period of regeneration, with a full video coming later this year.
