Caledonian Top Dressing is a multi-purpose lawn dressing that encourages new grass growth, and will enhance your lawns appearance. Ideal for improving drainage, suppressing moss, and creating a more even surface. This premium lawn improver is made from a blend of 70% fine sand and 30% peat-free 10mm fine grade compost.

Our Top Dressing will enhance the look of your lawn, create a level surface and improve drainage. It can also be used in a turf base application prior to laying turf. This premium lawn improver is made from a blend of 70% fine sand and 30% peat-free 10mm fine grade compost.
The compost used in this blend is made from locally collected recycled garden cuttings and clippings, this compost is screened to 0-10mm and is high in organic matter that is extremely beneficial to your lawn but as a natural product we can struggle to control the amount of small stones, inert grit and woody particles that pass through our screening mesh. This top dressing may contain quantities of inert and woody material that may remain on the surface after spreading but will typically work their way down into the soil over time as the lawn thickens and “greens” up.

Delivery
Please note delivery of all bags are made in bulk and offloaded mechanically from the roadside. We DO NOT carry bags manually into your property.
Builders Bags – Single bag delivery fee is £16.50 to a local postcode, orders of 2 or more qualify for free local delivery.
Small Bags – Minimum order for delivery is 5 bags, orders of 40 bags or more will qualify for free local delivery.
Small bags of Top Dressing can also be ordered using the click and collect service available on the the small bags product pages.
Loose Loads
We accommodate loose load deliveries for orders of 10 tonnes or more. Contact us for a quote.

Overall, a very good experience. Very reasonable price, very accommodating driver delivered it exactly where it was needed. The mix was very soft, with no sticks or stones. The compost wasn’t mixed in perfectly – some lumps of black stuff but this is a minor criticism and easily rectified by a bit of scrunching with hands or feet. Used it on a lawn that was in a very bad state and the seed is just getting going right now and looks very promising.

Good quality topdressing from Caledonian Horticulture, light enough that I can expect grass to push through within a few weeks when levelling existing grass areas, heavy enough that it won’t get blown away by the wind.
Bulk bags seem to have a more even consistency than individual bags, not sure why that would be!
Seems to be nice and nutritious too as any areas where I use it green up nicely within a few weeks.
